Ali Haydar Hakverdi is a Turkish politician and Member of Parliament from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). He was born on January 1, 1968, in the district of Silvan in Diyarbakir, Turkey. Hakverdi graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Law in 1991 and later worked as an attorney. He became actively involved in politics in the 1990s and was a founding member of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK). He was elected as an MP for the HDP from the Diyarbakir region in the Turkish general elections of 2018 and 2022. Hakverdi has been a strong advocate for minority rights, women's rights, and cultural and linguistic freedoms. He has also been vocal about the Kurdish issue in Turkey and has been critical of government policies toward the Kurdish population.
